Beautiful property! Everything was immaculate and the details the owners included simplified our packing/preparation. We loved exploring the area and sharing time on the deck, sipping wine by the river and roasting marshmallows over the campfire. Thank you!

Amazing!! The cabin was fantastic ~ owners are the best! Our weather was great ~ only rained when we were sleeping. The people in the area are so friendly. We slept so sound. Everyone had a blast ~ from the grandparents to the kids :)

I was seeking a quite place of solitude in which to ride out the chaotic and maddening expectation that has become the Yuletide season; to hide from people and find some peace with the Fam. After much online searching, I came across the Nantahal River Lodge. I joke sometimes that I feel like running deep into the woods, digging a hole, and hiding out... This place came pretty close to fulfilling that dream. The location is pretty isolated in a gorge. There is a cabin across the street, but it is situated off the road enough, you will not notice them. The property is gorgeous, well kept, and fenced. Plenty of firewood available should you like to build a fire in the outdoor pit or in the spectacular fireplace inside. Sadly for us, the weather was warm and rainy. So no fires for us. Boo. The rumbling waters of the river are a spiritual balm to the soul. I slept with the bedroom window open every night cozied up in flannel bedsheets. The cabin itself is amazing. Very clean inside and out. Architecturally speaking, it is delightful. Comfortable and modern without sacrificing the rustic feel one is seeking when venturing deep in the woods. Linen quality is high. Appliances and electronics are new and high quality. (Yes, you need to bring food and cook as going out to eat is no short drive.) The cabin was completely decorated for Christmas inside and out, which I was not expecting. It was such a boost to the mood after driving for hours in the rain and arriving in the dark to open the door and find a large and beautiful live Christmas tree. It was perfection. I wish I could comment on the fishing. However, it rained everyday creating a river much too rough for any success. There is a trailhead just before the power plant for The Bartram Trail. We enjoyed a short trek on it during a brief break in the rain. If you like leisurely walking up hills, it's well kept and an easy climb. The only issue we encountered during our stay... No WiFi. We knew this beforehand. However. The rain. Did I mention it rained. Every. Day. So with limited outdoor activities and no WiFi, we struggled a little. Luckily board games and books are plentiful. We managed and I would go back rain or shine inspite of no WiFi. Also, no cell service inside the cabin. Found spotty 3G signal by the fire pit. Thank you for sharing your treasure! I miss it everyday! AND...Thank you for graciously mailing a forgotten and beloved pillow!

Absolutely Amazing! Over the years, we have spent wonderful vacations in a lot of nice homes found on VRBO, but The Nantahala River Lodge, has forever spoiled us! From the time I read the family's connection with the area and how Annette and Micky preserved the wood from the old cabin, belonging to his grandparents, I was intrigued and touched. The reclaimed wood used in the new home is simply gorgeous. Micky and Annette have created a riverside retreat that is so inviting, relaxing, such a perfect peaceful place to rest, and to make wonderful family memories. Grounds surrounding the lodge are majestic. We didn't want to leave. Thank you again for allowing us to enjoy your amazing home! We truly felt welcome from the moment we arrived. God bless!
