Just Great!!

What a place! This house made our vacation very memorable. It's really a luxury cabin, with everything you need. Beautiful woodwork throughout - but it is all about the river. Throw the doors open and just listen to it! The location feels like your deep in the woods, just a gorgeous setting. We had fun tubing right behind the house, building a campfire, fishing, and hiking. Plenty of outings that are not far from the house, makes for a very busy week. But you can't wait to get back to the house and sit by the river. Annette and Mickey we're the nicest. most helpful hosts you could ask for. They have thought of everything and make your visit truly special.

LOVELY CABIN!!! THE WAY TO GO IF STAYING IN THE NANTAHALA AREA!

I grew up in the Nantahala Gorge area and I can confidently say, hands down, that this is THE place to stay if you want to be in close proximity to the river with luxury accommodations. The cabin is beautifully appointed and has lush surroundings... and its history makes it all the more special. My family enjoyed so many aspects but topping the list were the riverside location (kids played and fished in the river/parents enjoyed sleeping to the sound!), the fire pit (s'mores every night!), the 50 degree evenings (a welcome change from TX!), and the story behind its construction (so special!). Highly, highly recommended! My 6- and 9-year-old sons are already talking about next year's stay! :) (We'd be back sooner, if not for the requisite 12 hours' worth of travel!!)

Kid Friendly, Adult Approved

This cabin exceeded expectations. My family of 4( 2 children 15 & 10, and another family with 2 children 7 & 9) had one of our best vacations at this wonderful cabin. Annette & Mickey have out done their selves to make sure vacationers have everything available for a week long getaway yet still feel at home. Truly, the only items you need are your clothes, toiletries & food. Everything else is provided. Our children were happy just floating down the mini-rapids right out the back door of the amazing cabin. Located right in the middle of many rafting/zip line or hiking adventures. Also, provided is a very detailed book of everything you would need to know for the surrounding area. This cabin has risen our family's standards for vacation homes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank You Mickey & Annette for providing such a wonderful home and a memorable vacation for our families.

25th Anniversary Get-A-Way

The Nantahala River Lodge was everything it said it would be! The lodge was beautiful and the outdoor space lovely. There is something for everyone to do, from rafting, shopping, hiking, fishing, sight seeing, or simply enjoying the wonderful space! The owners of the property were extremely helpful with all their knowledge of the area. The lodge was in perfect condition upon our arrival with the added bonus of beautiful potted plants on the upper deck. We were at the lodge for a week with our adult children and their spouses. Everyone loved the place and had a wonderful time. Not an easy task to please that many people! Would we come again? ABSOLUTELY!!

Fantastic!!!

Had a great family vacation here. This place really is "special"! We travel a fair amount and are members of Exclusive Resorts. This "cabin" meets the standards of an Exclusive Resort Property! Total privacy. Photos really don't do it justice. Kids played paddle ball, fished, played in the river - it was great! The owners were very easy to work with and returned deposit immediately. They didn't miss a detail with this home. Cell phone service is spotty. Turing left out of the driveway is a MUST. We loved exploring all of the waterfalls (Old River Road) & the nearby lake was beautiful. It helped that we rented an SUV, some of the roads to get to hiking, fishing (Queen Lake), etc. are not in the best of condition. The grocery store (about 10+ minutes away) is nice & you must enjoy cooking. Restaurant choices are basically non-existent. The town of Andrews (where the grocery store is) is a very poor city (cute main street) & is basically out-of-business. We ate at the Mexican food restaurant & it was terrible, we also saw some sort of Pizza place that we didn't try. Nice People everywhere!! The town of Bryson City is a must, what a great little town! Dakota is the home caretaker. And he is the best! He was extremely helpful / patient with the kids. Dakota gives fly-fishing lessons & is a wonderful young man! If you follow the path of the river at some point you'll see Dakota guiding others. The kids couldn't get out of the car fast enough to say hello to there new found friend. We slept in the queen bedroom because the king bedroom doesn't have a TV & I simply must get my ESPN fix. I could go on and on with the positives!+!+!+!+!+
