Beverly & I grew up in central North Carolina, but we've called Hatteras Island our second home. 'Rose Cottage' is just steps away from the sandy beach. One of our favorite things is sitting on the porch watching the dolphin (yes, we see them just about every day) and of course the sunrises and sunsets. On the main level is the great room with electric fireplace for cozy evenings, full bathroom, washer/dryer, dining area and full service kitchen. (There is a Keurig Coffee maker and a 10 cup Mr. Coffee at Rose Cottage). The sliding glass door near the dining area leads to the back deck with seating. The front deck has a porch swing overlooking the ocean and several benches. All three of our bedrooms are upstairs, the master has a king bed with connecting bathroom and a view of the ocean. Another bedroom, very spacious with a queen bed, has two windows with a view of the ocean. The third bedroom has a queen bed. Outside security cameras. While staying at our cottage, exploring is a must. Hatteras Island is simply the most beautiful place on earth - where the Atlantic Ocean and Pamlico Sound is separated by a thin, fragile slice of land. Hatteras Lighthouse, Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, small villages of Avon, Buxton, Waves, Frisco and Salvo are all within a short drive.
In Rodanthe, explore the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Museum, Civil War Battle of Chicmacomico Races, and try to identify each of the over 400 species of birds. Or simple lay back and enjoy reading and watching the surf.

We are retirees that love the noncrowded beaches at the Outer Banks and especially Rodanthe. We grew up going to the Outer Banks and our dream was to one day have a house there.

The absolute best vacation my husband and I have ever had. Rose Cottage is a home away from home. The home is immaculate providing everything one needs. The owners are very courteous. I cooked while looking out at the ocean. The kitchen is well stocked with spices and all the pots and pans and dishes needed. Bedrooms very comfortable. Beautiful oceans views from two of the bedrooms. The view from the porch amazing . Bathrooms beautiful. It feels just like described a Cape Cod Cottage. Best place on the beach in a very quaint neighborhood with wonderful people. No way could anyone go wrong spending time here. The only thing time goes by too fast. My husband and I spent two weeks. I can’t wait to return!!

You can tell in the listing that the house seems to be in fairly good condition and the in-person experience only exceeded our expectations (always a treat when that happens).
The house was just perfect for a group of four friends getting together for an annual trip to the OBX. The house was really clean and comfortable and the owners really went the extra mile on everything from the welcome email with great local spot recommendations, to the home linens, kitchen supplies, and a shelf with teas and sweeteners.... It really added a special touch.
The one concern was whether we would have good views of the ocean. The house has a small home to the front of the property which obstructs part of the view from the right front. However, next to the house is a big beautiful field with no houses which gave us sweeping panoramic views of the ocean and beach which was just perfect. Every afternoon I would just relax in the swinging chair off the side covered porch and watch the waves roll in and the breeze blow the seagrasses from the field. I would highly recommend this house and plan to stay here again in the future.

This was our second stay at the Rose Cottage and we are already talking about when to schedule our third. The cottage is charming and comfortable and the location steps from the beach is perfect.

We just spent a week at Rose Cottage with another couple and enjoyed our entire stay. The house will sleep 6 as there are 3 bedrooms but it's perfect for 4 as each couple could have their own bathroom and there was plenty of room in the house to spread out. The beds were comfortable and there was always enough hot water for showers after a full day on the beach. The kitchen is Very well equipped with all sorts of dishes, pans, small appliances, silverware; the only thing we missed having was a salad spinner. There is a full array of herbs and spices which made cooking much easier. Beach access is right out the door; the path marked by a rope and post boundary. We used the hose at the bottom of the stairs several times a day to wash off our feet. All towels and linens were supplied. The owners were very responsive to our concerns about the recent hurricane but as they told us, there was no damage at all to Rose Cottage. We liked being in Rodanthe, this part of the Outer Banks is much less busy than the northern part which is really developed. If we come to the Outer Banks again, we would happily stay at Rose Cottage.

Our vacation included just the two of us and our Boston Terrier “Gizmo”. It’s difficult to find a place to stay for two people that is not overwhelming. Even though this cottage can sleep more, it felt just right to us. The view of the ocean is fantastic and we had our coffee each morning on the porch swing. It was extremely windy for 3 of our days but the swing is situated on the side of the porch that is protected from wind. This is really nice as it makes the porch much more usable than some. The cottage had everything necessary in the kitchen. We used one of the 3 bedrooms and there is a bath up and down. I had severe back spasms one day and had to sleep on the couch that night which was also super comfortable. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The owners gave us names of restaurants and a deli to try. We used a couple of them and they were great. You. Not go wrong here. It’s a quick walk to the beach right out the front door. We hated to leave as we felt we were at home. We will most certainly be back.
