MISTY LAUREL CHALET (www.mistylaurel.com) OFFERS GREAT LAKE & MOUNTAIN VIEWS, WI-FI, CELL SERVICE, DIRECTV AND MANY OTHER AMENITIES!
On a ridgetop at 3600 feet elevation, Misty Laurel Chalet has a beautiful view of Lake Nantahala (which is at 3000' elevation) and the Smoky Mountains beyond. Imagine awakening to a gorgeous view of the lake and then taking a brisk walk thru a lovely forest with crisp, clean air. In fact, Robert Redford recently filmed 'A Walk in the Woods' nearby, at Wayah Bald, based upon the book of the same name by Bill Bryson (now showing at theaters across the country). The film's aerial videos were shot by the same video crew who did the videography for our Visit Misty Laurel YouTube video!
Misty Laurel is spacious - 2400 square feet - with two living areas, both equipped with flat screen TVs, DirecTV HD satellite receivers & DVD players, in addition to three bedrooms, so the kids can entertain themselves downstairs while the adults enjoy themselves upstairs. There's also an extra dining table, full-size refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker downstairs, so that increases the privacy options. Take a look at the floorplan illustrations below.

For many of our previous guests, these excursions have been among the most memorable highlights of their visits to Misty Laurel. Lake Nantahala is spectacular and there's no better way to see it than from a boat. As well as being an excellent guide, Dale is a life-long Nantahala resident and will regale you with his tales as a park ranger and tracker! He was featured in the recent book "Bear in the Back Seat" about the career of a Smoky Mtn. Natl. Park ranger and wildlife expert. Dakota is the only local fishing guide who can offer a licensed and insured float fishing trip on the famous trout haven, the Nantahala River!

My husband and I arrived late at night. We were immediately impressed with the beautiful cabin, the fireplace, the size, etc. When we woke in the morning we were absolutely stunned. Little did we know that we had the most amazing view. We woke to a glistening crystal blue lake and a beautiful mountain range visiable from the bedroom window and of course the big picture windows. The wrap around deck was just perfect and we could have spent the entire vacation just enjoying the view, but we managed to tear ourselves away to enjoy some of the many activities the area has to offer. We canoed, hiked fished and did lots of sightseeing. . We only had a few days and next time hope to white water raft. As an airline employee, my husband my husband and I have access to just about anywhere a plane flies, but this was by far one of our favorite spots in the world. We look forward to our next visit. The owner, Pat, could not have been more helpful and was available round the clock. He is very organized has a great notebook full directions and suggestions which served to make navigating the area a breeze.. We highly recommend this cabin. You will not be dissapointed, I only wish there were more than five stars, as this little slice of heaven deserves ten. Thanks For all, and hope to visit Misty Laurel again. Tom and Cynthia

We stayed at Misty Laurel in mid September and it was absolutely gorgeous. The Chalet was just as pictured and described and with Pat's directions we drove right to it without any problem. Pat was very gracious to check in with us on arrival day to be sure we had made it and to see if we had any questions. We enjoyed pontooning on the Lake Nantahala and rafting at the NOC. We also enjoyed strolling the are around the Chalet with our two dogs and I will say I don't believe I have ever been anywhere more tranquil. Just perfect. We hope to be back next year.

This was a fabulous cabin! The owners were extremely wonderful and the cabin was just gorgeous! The view of the lake, the Nantahala mountains, and the Smoky Mountains National Park was breath-taking. We had dinner at the Lake's-End Cafe, rented a boat from the Lake's-End Marina, went white-water rafting at the NOC, and horse-back riding at the Smokemont Riding Stables. Everyone was accommodating and gracious. There was still so much more to do, but we ran out of time. We hope to come back again!

We had an amazing stay at Misty Laurel! Pat is wonderful and had great communication with us from planning answering all of our questions and taking time to talk to us before we rented through end of stay. The house was clean and comfortable with all amenities one could need from a crock-pot's to Chromecast on the TV's. We only had to bring our food and sense of adventure. The view from the chalet was incredible we were even treated with a lightening storm one night that was unbelievable. We enjoyed our coffee on the porch in the morning and cocoa around the fire pit at night. On Wayah Road the main road off of the mountain there were multiple waterfalls along the river and tons to explore locally. The guys went fishing with Dale for a day and the girls in search of yet more waterfalls on an adventurous drive to the Highlands. We had a great time horseback riding at the Nantahala Village Stables which was amazing- they had a very friendly staff and the horses were well trained and well kept! It snowed right before we got there so we got to make a mini snowman with the kids and a few snowballs may have been thrown. Only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! Would love to return in warmer weather and try white water rafting.

I've rented placed various times and I have to say that this has the best experience. Pat, the owner, was very helpful, accommodating and pleasant to work with during my stay. As a matter of fact, he was in Italy when I arrived at Misty Laurel and he called me to make sure that everything was okay. His directions to the the place were very helpful especially since I rely a lot on Google maps. I traveled with my son and my Golden retriever and the house was just spectacular. It was everything I expected and more. I've been to places where the owner has signs and notes posted on every room. This was not the case. I felt right at home and spent five glorious days, enjoying Misty Laurel. The view from the house was spectacular, and I woke up every morning looking at the mountains and the lake. The view from the top floor bedroom allowed you to look over from bed and see it (just as in the pictures). I enjoyed coffee and wine on the balcony and took in the smells and the sounds of nature. My seventeen year old son enjoyed cable and especially Wifi. I liked that the deck would close completely, so I felt comfortable, having my dog outside. I cooked all our meals and the house had everything I needed to prepare them. We used Pat's suggestions to visit various places in the area, including Cullajasa Falls and Wayah Bald. We also visited various waterfalls in Franklin/Highlands. I hope to go back to Misty Laurel one day, in the summer so we can enjoy the lake and the river activities. Thank you, Pat for sharing your home with us.

Our recent stay at Misty Laurel was wonderful. The owner went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our surprise getaway. We traveled around the beautiful area and left with some amazing photographs. The only thing I would change would be the length of our stay as I could have spent an entire month in this cabin. I can't wait to go back and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

We went up to Lake Nantahala with some friends that were in nearby cabins for a week. We had an absolutely amazing time and mostly because this cabin was a true home or us for the week. It was by far one of the best appointed cabins we have ever stayed in (and we frequent cabins 2-3 time a year). There was nothing that was missing! Everything was super clean and very updated...Patrick was a shear delight to work with the whole time! He even called us at the cabin when I emailed him a question! Mornings on the porch were amazing as you watched the lake, and hummingbirds feed off the many feeders. There were a ton of books to read which came in very handy for our one rainy day. You will not be disappointed with this gem! We will surely be back!

This is an excellent home and a superb value. The home is clean, well maintained and well supplied. We spent a week with our family of six adults and four children and had a wonderful time. We enjoyed hiking to waterfalls, zip lining, fishing, rafting the Nantahala, and tubing the Oconoluftee, and just relaxing on the deck with a beautiful view. We also enjoyed some of the board games provided. The fishing day with Dale Raxter was a highlight. The owner was very helpful to us in planning our events, and describing the home. We recommend this property to anyone wanting to vacation in a beautiful area with nearly unlimited activities for all ages.

This has been the finest cabin we have stayed in over the last few years. The fixtures and appliances are high-end, the view is breathtaking, the house feels like a home rather than a rental. There were so many extras: baby gate (we needed it), recliners, big towels, coffee grinder, decent knives, excellent propane grill, canoe, 5 adirondack deck chairs, internet, 2 great TVs, and on and on. The driveway fit our 4 vehicles, and it wasn't frighteningly steep like other places we've rented. The Nantahala Outdoor Center was an easy drive for our rafting and zip-lining; the lake's little marina was even closer for our canoe/kayaking. Our group had 7 adults and a baby, but the house was spacious, with bathrooms on all 3 levels, so we never felt cramped. The main deck was our favorite spot - all of us could comfortably sit out there for morning coffee, or just to listen to the quiet! We took the advice of the owner and brought a cooler (for perishables) plus the bulk of our week's groceries, so that we avoided the 45-minute trip to town for food. It was a great vacation, and the perfect homecoming for our son, just returning from Afghanistan.
