Sea Star is just minutes from the center of town. Emerald Isle is a quaint, friendly beach village with lots of nice restaurants, watersports rentals and lessons, night-life, and the best local seafood (if you don't catch your own, visit Captain Willis Seafood - great, fresh quality). Emerald Isle public boat launch is just 2 miles from Sea Star - modern, well-laid out with lots of free parking, and an easy boat-ride to Bogue Inlet and the ocean.
There are plenty of local attractions, if you can tear yourself away from the beach, that is! For rainy days, The North Carolina Aquarium is just a few miles away, and is really a great experience for children AND adults. A little further is Beaufort, NC. Visit the exquisite Maritime Museum, drive down the lovely waterfront street, and be sure and stroll through the Old Burying Ground (grab a brochure to learn the fascinating backgrounds of certain "residents," including the Girl in the Rum Barrel). Fort Macon State Park is also a nice visit, down past Atlantic Beach.
If you want to stay closer to Emerald Isle, but still explore the area, visit historic Swansboro, just a few miles away on the mainland. Main Street has lots of lovely shops in old buildings right on the waterfront. For breakfast, grab infamous apple fritters at Yana's (if you can get in), and enjoy a waterfront lunch at Saltwater Grille.
There is so much to do in Emerald Isle and in the surrounding area, you will never be bored. But the beach is so amazing, your exploration may have to wait for future visits...
Linens are not included. Guests usually bring their own; however, they also may be rented locally from Island Essentials for a reasonable fee.

Our family enjoyed our stay. The house was neat and clean. We loved having a ocean front house. And we found lots of pretty shells.

This property was in a great location just a few short miles from the main town area and not to far from the pine knolls aquarium. The place was very clean and the owner was very responsive to all the questions I had. The WiFi in the House was shared with the other half of the duplex but we had no problems using our phones/iPads or even streaming over our own Roku. Directtv was also available in the cottage.

Summary: If you're looking for a fantastic location in a cozy place, this is it! If you're looking for a super modern place, this isn't it.
Low down: We weren't as concerned about a remodeled kitchen or other more updated amenities and appreciated the beach cottage decor and the laid-back vibe of the place. The upper deck and deck chairs are fantastic for hanging out and watching the show on the ocean. We loved seeing dolphins swimming by and watching all the various sea birds and pelicans making their rounds.
A couple tips: If you're traveling from a long way away (flying), be sure to order linen service in advance. You'll need sheets, towels and kitchen linens. Our fault for not noticing this in the contract, but hadn't seen this before on a vacation rental. I know, rookies. We had a great time though and Helen quickly helped us sort out the linens SNAFU, so no harm done! You may also need a trip to the store for soap, TP, paper towels, kitchen trash bags and other household items.
