Exotic in N. Carolina

When we saw the Highland oxen as we pulled in we knew we were in for a surprise and it didn't end there! In addition to the unique animals which included American bison, llamas and mini-horses we were engrossed in the beauty of the surrounding mountainsides with well constructed and comfortable cabins nestled among them. Our children thoroughly enjoyed the up close viewing of several amazing animals! Our cabin was clean, had ample space for our family and just the right amenities so as to make the stay enjoyable. The fire pits were great for roasting marshmallows and good conversation while the Jacuzzi under the moonlight was a relaxing end to our day!

Fun family time!

My husband and I and our two children, (11 and 13 year olds) stayed here with our two dogs for our winter break from school. We all fell in love with the cabin the minute we saw it. We did a lot of skiing in Maggie Valley and it was only 15-20 minute drive there each day. We got very lucky and there was a lot of real snow the week we were there. It was beautiful. We all enjoyed coming back to the cabin and my son and husband would build a big fire to relax by after a long day of skiing. My daughter and I enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub as well. My kids favorite thing was definitely the animals. They would make sure we got change everyday before leaving Maggie Valley so they could get food for the animals out of the little machines and feed them each day. Cheryl and her family were all very helpful with any and all questions we had. We lost water for just a short time one afternoon but someone was out within a few minutes of reporting the issue. It was due to the extremely cold temps but was fixed immediately. We were very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone. We definitely plan to return, my daughter asked if we could move there. :)

Refreshing Getaway

My wife and I decided to enjoy an extended winter-weekend away to recharge and refresh ourselves. We needed a place to stay with that Bed and Breakfast appeal while preserving our need for privacy. The cabin is tucked away in a remote and scenic hillside. Our hostess Cheryl was extremely accommodating and made sure that our every question was answered prior to the trip down. Bison Overlook Lodge delivered on its promise. Our expectations for a four day and three night retreat were exceeded. If you are looking to get a break from the commotion of the work week and for a quick recharge, Bison Overlook Lodge comes highly recommended.
