Fabulous vacation week at a wonderful beach house:)
I just came back from a week at Holden Beach with my husband and 4 year old son. It was a fantastic week staying
at the Wing Beneath My Wings beach rental house:) It was our first time on the North Carolina coast. I had a ton of questions ahead of time and more while we were there- the homeowner was always patient, responsive, and knowledgeable. The house itself was beautiful. We were in the upstairs unit, with a beautiful ocean view. I loved the fact that the house had both a deck and a screened in porch. We had breakfast out on the deck every morning, overlooking the water. On the days when the wind picked up in the evening or there was a little rain, it was great to have the screened in porch. We opened all of the porch windows to hear the waves and could look out at the water. We had dinner in the screened in porch every evening. The porch was well stocked with beach toys and toy vehicles, to the delight of my son. The beds and furniture were comfortable and the house was clean. The kitchen had all of the cookware and tableware that we needed. I loved the location of this house on Holden Beach. It is in a stretch of the beach where there is no back row of houses on the other side of the street, so there is no beach access from the street. That meant that we had a ton of space and privacy on the beach in front of the house, there were very few other people on that stretch of beach. It was a short walk on the beach to the pier, which my son loved. Also it was a short walk to the little general store, and the ice cream parlor. We chose the date of our trip for the end of September for my son’s 4th birthday. It was a happy coincidence that this date, being considered offseason, meant we were able to bring our dog on the beach. It was great that the house allowed our dog. The homeowner had sent me information before the trip in response to my request for a fishing excursion for my son. Her recommendation was perfect and my son absolutely loved it. We grocery shopped when we arrived for most of our meals, and did a few takeout restaurant meals for dinner. The restaurants in the area were great. We are definitely planning to return to this house for an annual vacation, I am so glad we found this place! Next time, post-Covid, we plan on exploring the area more when we are there.
