A Mountain Home Away From Home

WOW! My husband and I love the mountains, so we've stayed in our fair share of cabins... this is by far the BEST yet! So cozy and a beautiful property with all the amenities one can need for a weekend, a week or a month! Not to mention--completely spotless! The house was stocked with fresh linens, soaps, tons of dishes, FRESH flowers, dog treats and lots of other little things that show exactly how much effort the owners put into this place. They thought of everything! (even a sewing kit!) The creek outside is beautiful and the best part is that you can see it from almost every inch of the house! I only wish we could have stayed longer. With family in town, we hope to return again someday soon and take advantage of the beautiful fire pit (we were in town for a family gathering & didn''t get to use it!) Linda was more than friendly & communicative and made for a smooth check in and check out. Thank you for a great weekend - we hope to come back again someday soon!!

Loved the casa on the creek. Beautiful secluded location along tusquittee. House wonderful.

Had a very enjoyable long new years weekend. Very quiet alongside creek and pasture with long range mountain views. Everything we needed in kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. All well appointed and very clean. Welcome by owners who are very accommodating.

Wonderful hospitality

The owner is a great host with an impecable cabin, top notch communication prior to arrival and a welcoming demeanor. Anyone looking for a quiet, secluded getaway cant go wrong in Lindas cabin.

Love the creek!

Owner was very responsive and helpful during the booking process. When we arrived there was everything and more that we needed! She had treats for the kids and our two dogs along with a mug full of popcorn, hot cocoa and tea. The sound of the rushing creek behind the house was wonderful! The kids loved the playhouse. The only thing disappointing was there were no fish in the creek or the pond. My husband and I were hoping to do some fishing but it just didn't work out. There also wasn't a lot of hot water for baths or showers but I loved the claw foot tub, just wished I could have filled it with hot water. My husband has already recommended your place to a coworker. We are even thinking about returning when the weather is a bit warmer. Overall a good experience.

While at first we were a little disappointed that this guest gave us our first 4-star review, we decided to look a little further at what she wrote and see if we could learn something. And boy did we ever! Upon closer inspection of the plumbing and hot water heater in the cabin, we learned that the water heater was 20+ years old and indeed could not live up to the demands of filling the big soaking tub while a family's regular activities (using washer, running dishwasher) were also taking place during a normal day's activities. So... we expect to be installing a brand new, up-sized hot water heater in the cabin next week along with some other plumbing adjustments which should resolve the issue.

Re. the pond and the creek: and the non-cooperating fish: Tusquittee Creek is a trout stream stocked by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission several times a year. We've seen guests and neighbors catch plenty of trout in the creek, but a fisherman-neighbor of ours surmised, with a twinkle in his eyes, that perhaps mid-January is not the best time of year to fish the creek-- the fish are too busy trying to keep warm and so are the fishermen (mountain humor!). The pond, while not stocked, is home to bass and bluegill and we've had many guests spend delightful hours fishing there (catch and release), being rewarded with a nice size bass or bluegill. We'd love for this family to come back and try their luck again!

One final note regarding this delightful young family-- We've had our rental cabin and cottage for 2+ years now and while almost all of our guests leave the cabin cleaned up a bit, we can honestly say that when we checked the cabin after this family's departure, you would never have known that a young family with four children under the age of 12 plus two dogs (gotta love those little dachshunds!) had ever spent a single minute there. It was immaculate! Everything was not only tidied up and all check-out instructions had been followed, the level of cleanliness and order in the cabin was astounding. So we want to again say thank you to this amazing family for choosing to stay with us and we'd be delighted to welcome them back any time.

Treasure in the woods

Our recent trip to Hayesville, North Carolina was not a pleasure trip. We were going for a sudden death in the family and had to scrabble to find a place to stay-ASAP! We found Blackwell Branch Cabn online and it was available for our travel dates. Booking was simple and quick and we were on our way the next day!
The owner was there and warmly welcomed us on arrival! She gave us all the info we needed. She also left a folder with local information as well as check out information. What really caught my eye was that the pictures online didn't do this cabin justice! The photos online were very nice, but the cabin is bigger than it looked!! It was very comfortable and yet cozy for our family of five. We had plenty of space for family to come by also! We enjoyed tic-tac-toe and checkers in our 'down time'. It was Extremely cold during our visit, so we didn't venture out much, but the creek in back looked and sounded wonderful!

Our family will definitely book this cabin for future trips!! It was beautiful! And meeting both owners was equally as nice! Very friendly and sincere!

We HIGHLY recommend Blackwell Branch Cabin!! :)
