We've booked many VRBO's in the past, but none of them even come close to this magical home! Our hostess, Linda, was extremely accommodating from start to finish and her hospitality was above and beyond anything I've ever experienced before. She met us at the home and gave us a quick tour. There was a vase of fresh flowers, sparkling cider, some cookies, and even dog biscuits waiting for us. Each bathroom had a sweet bud vase filled with a fresh spray of tiny azaleas. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed, including a bag of treats for the local bull and donkey that inhabit the nearby cow pasture. The setting was something out of a dream. Set in a valley, at the base of a mountain, in an airy copse with numerous little trails that beg for exploration, there is a bubbling creek just off the back deck. Just beyond the creek is a serene pond filled with chatty geese, a resident heron, and swallows flying overhead. It's the perfect spot for families with little ones to keep busy.
I cannot say enough about the organization and cleanliness - the home was absolutely immaculate with plenty of linens. The deck furniture, benches surrounding the fire pit, and the charming playhouse were all beautifully, and lovingly maintained, with no evidence of spiders or bugs, which is incredible for outside furnishings. The playhouse was clearly designed with safety in mind. The gate at the top of the ladder only opens inward, assuring that little people can't accidentally fall backwards through the gate. It has some toys inside, all of which are in good condition and kept very clean. Plus, there is electricity in the playhouse, so both levels have lights inside that make it a warm and welcoming space. There was a folder filled with local things to do. We took our dogs to the Chatuge Dam Trail for a nice walk. Then, we stopped by the Goldhagen Art Glass Studio & Gallery where we bought several pieces of art for our home. We met the artist and he and his assistant even gave us a demonstration of how they work and we got to see him blow several new pieces. It was a great and fun learning experience for our kids. Linda is a professional dog sitter who can watch your dogs while you are out and about, so there's no need to rush home from outings. You can just relax and enjoy all the area has to offer.
I could go on and on... suffice to say that this is our new favorite home away from home and we hope to visit again very soon!
